We are so glad that there is enough momentum going for the GSU chapter to reach out to you all with leadership openings for Spring 2020. There are three leadership opportunities in H-STAT for the spring semester. Each would be a great touch to a resume, an opportunity to network across Atlanta, and the chance to help health-allied students across Atlanta contextualize what they’re learning in the classroom to effect real change in our communities.
Advocacy Committee Chair
This person would have the opportunity to lead interdisciplinary students in advocacy at the Georgia Capitol and gain valuable skills in translating health equity into policy. This position would work primarily with our H-STAT Advocacy Director and other advocacy partners. Experience in policy advocacy preferred, but not required.
STAR Event Committee Chair
Help us lead a campus-wide training on childhood trauma, stress, and health. This leader would work closely with Dr. Dube, an associate professor with the School of Public Health and who was an original researchers on ACEs with the CDC. This leader should have experience in large event planning.
Cut Hypertension Committee Chair
This program is central to H-STAT’s service and education goals. We volunteer bi-weekly to bring health education and BP readings to our local homeless population. We partner with local business, religious, and health leaders. The leader of this program would train new volunteers on heart health and play a role in bridging the gap in access to healthcare in Atlanta.
