Trauma Centers Stretched Thin

Georgia’s proposed vehicle registration surcharge to fund trauma care seeks to address what many experts consider a growing national problem: insufficient medical capacity to deal with potential disasters, natural or otherwise.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Many hospital emergency and trauma facilities in the U.S. are routinely stretched so thin that they would have trouble treating the onslaught of victims a terrorist bombing might create, according to emergency-medicine experts and government and private studies.
