Year in review

2019 was a busy year for H-STAT! As the year draws to a close, here’s a look back on some of what we’ve been up to this year.

In the spring, H-STAT joined the ACP at the Georgia State Capitol for a day of advocacy.

Our ACEs task force renewed its focus on resilience with rebranding as the Student Taskforce on ACEs and Resilience (STAR). STAR has held monthly journal clubs throughout the year as well as a trauma-informed care training day with about 100 attendees.

We developed the Prison Praxis program to help health professional students better understand issues around healthcare for the incarcerated. A group of students visited the Stewart Detention Center in November. Students also wrote holiday cards to the inmates there.

This summary just scratches the surface of all that our students have worked on this year. Thank you to everyone who has helped make these events and programs possible. We look forward to continuing to work with you in 2020 and wish everyone a very happy new year!
